Flip camera policies
- You may not take a flip camera to use without checking it out. Once you have checked it out, you are responsible for it until you check it back in again. If another group wants to use it, return it to me first or you will still be responsible for the camera. Make sure you remember which camera you check out, so all your footage ends up on the same camera.
- Do not delete any files from the Flip cam while it is plugged into the computer--I want to make sure nobody erases someone else's work. (It's OK to erase files using the Flip Cam's screen, because then you see what you are erasing.)
- I will announce "Erasing days" when I will erase everything on all the flip cams. Make sure you export your work to the computer before the end of any "Erasing day."
- Be gentle!
Filming suggestions
- When you pan (point the camera left and right) or tilt (point the camera up and down), do so slowly. Otherwise your viewers will get sea-sick.
- Don't record in poorly-lit areas or areas where you are back-lit (where the light source is behind the people you are filming).
- Video cameras are terrible at filtering out background noise. If you record in a noisy area, you probably won't be able to hear the actors. Listen to the clips every now and then to make sure they sound the way you want them to sound.
- Don't record in the wind.
